One tourist described the protest as a 'storm' as demonstrators walked through the island's capital

Thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Majorca’s capital on Saturday demonstrating against the impacts of mass tourism on the island. Around 15,000 people took part in demonstrations in the city on the evening of May 25.

The demonstrators marched through the streets heading towards Weyler Square and chanted ‘go home’ to tourists. One holidaymaker, Polly Taylor, was dining in Palma with friends when it happened and described the protest as a “storm”.She told the MailOnline: “It was like a storm was coming but we didn’t know what the storm was about....then the noise from the protesters just got louder and louder and we were swamped with them.” She recalled seeing signs that said “Go home tourists”.
