Bazze, which claims to be a trusted partner of U.S. and U.K. defense agencies, says its marketplace can be used to enable “real-time” mobile device location searches in consulates, naval bases, and airfields in other countries.In promotional materials, Bazze suggests searches for “users in military bases in and visited the country ” or “users in embassy locations in .

Semwangu has said that he founded Bazze after an acquaintance requested location data on cell phones in Eastern Europe, which evolved into a profitable side hustle. “I realized that the government was buying massive quantities of data, only some of which they used,”that Bazze was able to use a single email address to find the old identities of a former undercover agent curious to know if their aliases were traceable.

“Notwithstanding our role as a data marketplace, we understand that our company operates in a sector susceptible to privacy abuses, and we take steps to ensure we provide access to data in a manner that reflects our values,” Semwangu added.
