Darlington throwback weekend is usually for old NASCAR liveries, but RFK Racing team co-owner Brad Keselowski is going straight to Gran Turismo.
The TOM's Supra is an icon. The Toyota that won the 1997 JGTC title is a Gran Turismo mascot, an origin point for Super GT as we know it today, and a winner despite swapping the car's signature 2JZ-GTE I-6 for a four-cylinder rallying/hillclimb/IMSA engine. All of that makes it a hit with most car enthusiasts, but it still is not something you might associate in your mind with NASCAR racing. Brad Keselowski and his RFK Racing team are going to change that.
Teams usually opt for something out of the past of their program or their driver, but some choose to instead go with the history of a sponsor. RFK Racing is sponsored by Castrol, so the team chose to look at a few historic Castrol liveries before deciding on their Darlington scheme. The TOM's Supra won out, and the best Castrol livery ever run will make its NASCAR debut in May.
