This Instagram artist is making one-of-a-kind creations that have already caught the eye of FKA Twigs.
Now, a new label is tapping this merch movement in its own way and has already caught the eye of at least one major artist. Visaroot Chantajhon is a 21-year old artist based in Bangkok, Thailand, who goes by the nickname Gunner. Through his label Rocheboy, he repurposes vintage band tees into patchwork sweaters, occasionally designing hybrid jeans and vests as well. As a longtime lover—and wearer—of merch, Gunner wanted to make something unique out of his rock band tee collection.
Gunner now makes these Frankensteinian tops as a full-time hobby from his home in Bangkok, taking custom orders via Instagram DMs. He sources the vintage tees for his pieces from markets across the city. “My friends sell vintage T-shirts in the night markets,” he says of his go-to spots . , came across Gunner’s work on Instagram , and immediately DM’d him asking to make a few customer orders for her.Last year, Twigs wore one of his designs for a red carpet appearance at SiriusXM Studios: Gunner’s custom piece for her included a tribute to Princess Diana, mixing imagery of the famed royal with cheeky photos of Betty Boop.
