The stretch of Dundas West between Dufferin Street and Lansdowne Avenue has seen a new crop of culinary talent over the last three years, making it as worthy as a culinary destination as much as the well-trodden neighbouring Parkdale.
Among the additions is a pasta chef, two brothers putting their spin on brunch, a pair of chefs-turned-fishmongers, and a husband-and-wife team updating a family institution.and the road was immediately closed off from Brock to Sheridan for repairs.
The red velvet pancakes on the original menu were replaced with fluffy buttermilk pancakes with orange blossom ricotta, blueberries and crumbled, sweet and nutty halva. First timers should opt for the Anatolian Delight Platter with olives, tahini with pekmez , cucumber-radish salad, whipped feta with ezme , scrambled eggs with fenugreek and a simit, a sesame seed-encrusted bread.
“We kept adding dishes that we were more comfortable with, showing our Kurdish background and influences from Turkey. Food from Turkey is still underrepresented here, and Anatolian cuisine is one of the top cuisines in the world,” says Ali, who along with his brother were born in Turkey and grew up in Toronto.
