The days of chargers in desolate parking lots could be coming to an end, as one automaker plans a different type of charging hub.

is using the Consumer Electronics Show to reveal plans for a massive high-power charging network for North America, Europe, and China. The network of charging stations will see 10,000 high-power chargers in all global markets by the end of the decade, with 400 hubs featuring 2500 chargers planned for North America by 2027.Mercedes plans to partner with MN8 Energy and ChargePoint for its North American network.

The company indicates that depending on location and region, the hubs will offer four to 12 chargers each, and some as many as 30, serving up 350-kW charging speeds.Mercedes-Benz "By selecting MN8 Energy and ChargePoint as our partners in North America—two of the leaders in their respective fields—we'll be able to continue to drive the transformation towards an electric future, which is one of the main pillars of our holistic, sustainable corporate strategy," said Markus Schäfer, member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and chief technology officer.
