Dr. Luke Schneider says it Blue Monday doesn’t have to be so blue. He’s a registered psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology and the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and a clinical research associate at PSPNET. | SaltWire

Yeah, absolutely. So the way that it works is in your traditional therapy paradigm, you would have to find the time. Or if you live in a rural and remote location, have to drive to a large city center to meet with a psychologist like myself face to face for about an hour or so. And really, that interaction therapy typically involves being connected with evidence based skills to manage things like low mood and anxiety.

People don't have to get any sort of referral, they typically go to our website and then they sign up and we take care of the rest. Now on that website, there's a red button and a blue button; one that says click here for online therapy for PSP one. This is click here for resources for family members. It sounds like it's not just me, but the people who support me who can avail themselves of the service.Yeah, this is something that we're actually really, really excited about.

So this can really, really be helpful for people who are struggling, but they really don't know what's going on. That's what the course is designed to help with right at the beginning of the course, to help people identify what we call their cycle of symptoms because often the things that we think will affect the way that we feel and that will also affect the things that we do often in unanticipated ways.

But for some people, they really do find that the the nature of PSPNET, the online web based component to be really, really helpful. And so this is something that we would offer in conjunction with all these other services, working kind of hand-in-hand with the other mental health services rather than in competition. And a challenge in rural Nova Scotia sometimes is access to the Internet, though. Is there a component over the telephone or in-person?So we don't have an in-person stream.
