Tata Senyk, whose family was uprooted from their home in Dnipro, Ukraine because of the Russian invasion, struggled to find the words to describe how it felt to be given a preowned vehicle by Capital Subaru in St. John's, where they now live. “We were shocked, we never expected it,” she said. - Andrew WatermanST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The past six months have made Tata Senyk realize two opposing ideas can be true at once.“You cannot even believe the degree of craziness,” she said.
“Here in Canada, some time passes by, you start to unravel that ball of nerves … Day by day, you get used to people being normal,” she said. “Chris had asked me, what can we do to help these people out? Can we get it discounted? What can we do? I said, ‘No, Chris, we’re going to do better than that. We’re going to give them a car.’”
