Journalists have an important role to play in politics, but they are not exempt from being affected by politics themselves.

Even more a part of this notion is the assumption that journalists, reporters, and editors are subhuman and expected to be on the periphery of the human experience. This assumption is dangerous and exclusionary, placing people on a level of objectivity that no one is capable of. Furthermore, it poses that journalists do not have the right to vote, donate to, campaign for, or speak their truth about a candidate who may have their best interests in mind.
