The City of Cape Town indicated that Vredehoek, Tamboerskloof and the Bo-Kaap area will be without water from 8pm today, as an urgent repair on one of the main water pipes takes place.
The City of Cape Town’s Department of Water and Sanitation will be conducting urgent repairs on the 225mm diameter main water supply to the Vredehoek, Tamboerskloof and Bo-Kaap areas.
According to the COCT, the repairs will result in the disruption of the water supply to these areas on Wednesday, 9 March from 8 pm until 12 pm. The City said, the repairs also involve cutting out and replacing a weakened section of pipe in Glen Crescent, Gardens which has resulted in previous water supply disruptions.
“Careful consideration has been given to the planning of the work to ensure the least disruption to consumers in the area. Some residents will experience low water pressure and others no water during this period,” the City said. Meanwhile, residents are also advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
