While the pandemic created excess mortalities and hammered life insurers’ profits, it did reinforce how critical life insurance is and how important the institutions that write this cover are to the broader economy. The pandemic has faded into an endemic, mortalities have drifted lower and life insurers’ profits are recovering nicely.
