Similarly, women who majored in engineering are less likely than male majors to be working in engineering jobs. Clearly, more has to be done to both attract women and minorities to these fields and also to retain them. Women still bear the brunt of childcare, and often take jobs that offer flexibility so that they can be available when their child is sick or needs care.
