The top rum in the world was the Worthy Park Estates, White Overproof Rum. The Global Spirit Masters recently announced the top rums and cachaça expressions in the world. Twenty-six spirits won the coveted Master award.
The Pampero Seleccion is a Venezuelan rum that is aged for 5 to 6 years in oak casks. The 1938 commemorates the year the distillery was founded. The brand is owned by drinks giant Diageo. The rum offers up notes of butter, milk chocolate and butterscotch, along with notes of dried fruits, nutmeg and a touch of oak.The Plantation Gran Añejo is a Guatemalan produced and aged rum. It’s finished in Cognac casks at Cognac Ferrand Chateau de Bonbonnet for up to a year.
The Holyrood distillery is a brand-new distillery in the heart of Edinburgh. It’s located in a 180-year-old building at the former St Leonard’s railway station. These rums were all sourced from the Diamond Distillery in Guyana, which is owned by the Demerara Distillers Ltd. Demerara rums are sweet and viscous and have traditionally been the base of navy rums.
The Inner Circle Green Navy Strength Rum is a blend of column and pot distilled rums from the Beenleigh Distillery in Australia that is aged for five years. A small amount of 10 YO rum is also added to the blend. This is a typical navy rum. It’s a very smooth, intensely flavored, molasses-based rum that offers up notes of caramel, butterscotch, orange zest and dried fruits.Rhum Agricole are sugarcane juice-based rums produced primarily in the French West Indies.
