A Montreal\u002Dbased sports radio host is apologizing after making fat\u002Dshaming comments about Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk.
After the backlash, Ross deleted the tweets and then his Twitter account altogether.
Reflecting on his poor choice of words, Ross wrote in his apology that him “poking fun” at the 5-foot-8, 245-pound Kirk was meant to be “tongue-in-cheek.” He said the video made him think of the “hundreds of people” who attacked him, believing baseball players were not athletes. He said he thought his tweet would lead to more baseball jokes, noting “it was never about anything else.”
It wasn’t until Manoah responded that he said the tweets told a different narrative. Ross said it never dawned on him that the conversation could turn to body issues. “I was simply a sports host having a take on something sports related,” said Ross. “But I was wrong and insensitive for posting this.”tap here to see other videos from our teamRoss went on to state he has “experienced the horrors of bullying” and he’s “seen people close to me deal with very painful body-related struggles, my heart broke that anyone could think of me as this monster.
