Turning 17 in Texas is about more than finally watching a raunchy R-rated movie in theaters. For The Woodlands High School students, it includes a confusing mix of new rights and restrictions.

Sitting amongst his 16- and 17-year old peers, 18-year-old TWHS student James Bickett said he didn't feel a sudden switch into adulthood. that automatically tries all 17-year-olds with felony or misdemeanor crimes into the adult system, with few limitations in place. "There's so much of the world you don't know, but there are some things you do know. Killing other people is never okay," Logan said."I don't ever want to see a school shooter out and about even if they're 50, because I think that those repercussions should be the same as a legal adult."
