The new Reds head coach could already have his first transfer target in his sights as the 17-year-old makes waves in South America
Arne Slot could be ready to make his first signing as Liverpool's new head coach ahead of what is sure to be a busy summer at Anfield.
One way of switching from the transfer norm under Klopp could be to begin going after young talents from South America, with the Reds under their former boss almost exclusively pooling their academy talent from European countries. Over the past few years, clubs like Chelsea and Brighton have secured some of the continent's best and brightest stars, with the Blues lining up moves for Kendry Paez, Deivid Washington, Angelo, Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian over the last two summers.
The Fluminense starlet is on the radar of some of Europe's elite clubs, including Liverpool, with the club reportedly enquiring about the youngster to work out a deal over the summer along with his teammate Andre Trindade. They're not alone in that venture though, as Reis is reportedly expected to be on the target list of Newcastle United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Monaco.
He made his debut for the U-17s national team a month prior to the tournament, with his nine appearances coming in that two-month spell. The starlet also holds dual citizenship and is still eligible to play for Mexico at the senior international level, with his father Elías Luiz dos Reis, who was also a professional footballer, having starred for the now-defunct Mexican club Pumas Morelos at the time of his son’s birth in April 2007.
