A winner from The Wheel has revealed how the show was adapted for him as a blind contestant. Toby left viewers stunned on Saturday when he won £45,000 after correctly answering a question on art - despite not being able to see it.
The player – who went fully blind at the age of 16 – was helped in the final round by radio DJ Sara Cox, who assisted him with a question on art, later declaring his prize money ‘life-changing’.The TV star took to social media, where he frequently posts videos about life as a blind person and dismantles stereotypes to his 241k followers.
‘He read out all the questions twice, made sure I knew where all the celebrities were and what topics they had. He even described what was going on while the wheel was moving, which was actually really funny.’…and the radio presenter was visibly emotional as the studio went gold! At one point, he had the celebs in stitches when tasked with answering a question about rugby, with YouTuber Chunkz as his expert.Clearly not knowledgable about the sport, the vlogger said: ‘Never watched a game of rugby in my life, never played it…’
