This October, Image is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Walking Dead's comic book debut with thirty-five variant covers for its current titles, as Walkers descend on the likes of RadiantBlack and IHateFairyland.

Kirkman's Walking Dead, which ran for 193 issues between October 2003 and July 2019, is now considered one of the essential depictions of zombie lore, right alongside the films of George A. Romero. To honor its legacy, Image Comics is releasing thirty-five variant covers across most of its current titles, nine of which have already been revealed, featuring "Image artists’ unique interpretations of the iconic horror series’ characters.

The Walking Dead Started The 21st Century Zombie Craze Of the covers already revealed, the most ambitious is Stefano Simeone's panoramic connecting variant covers, which feature a single scene across the covers of No/One #7, Radiant Black #28 , Rogue Sun #17, and The Dead Lucky #10. The covers, seen together, feature a chaotic scene, with lots of zombie carnage, including Walking Dead mainstays like Rick and Michonne, as well as characters from the books themselves.
