“I purchased a property in ’95, [which] had been abandoned for 10 years. It was a Santa Barbara County historical landmark,” Rideau explained. Rideau prioritized sharing New Orleans customs with her guests; playing blues and jazz, doling out handfuls of Mardi Gras beads and making gumbo on the weekends.
As her vineyard grew in popularity, Rideau began seeking out other women and people of color in the wine industry. “We actually named an award after her,” said Habibi.
