The Florida judge who just disrupted the criminal investigation of Donald Trump wrote in her opinion that she felt “mindful of the need to ensure at least the appearance of fairness and integrity” in the conduct of the investigation.
It was a revealing turn of phrase that suggests she believes the Justice Department is pursuing a political vendetta against Trump. By saying she wanted to salvage “at least” the appearance of fairness, she is suggesting that actual substance of fairness is missing.
