Welcome to Wentworth, the small South Yorkshire village that has drawn comparisons to Hot Fuzz thanks to the 'draconian' measures implemented by a trust to ensure the village’s historic values are retained. (For the greater good)

The 43-year-old, who has managed Lightfoot Wines on Main Street for seven years, said: ‘There’s lots of people who have lived here their entire lives. They were born here and they’ll die here.

Opposite the wine shop is the Wentworth Village Shop, which has been managed by Craig Horner, 53, and his wife Zoe, 54, for almost 18 years. Zoe said: ‘They stick to the old traditions of village fetes and things like that. It’s very much an old traditional village. There are new people coming in who have got a lot of new ideas, but they still keep the village traditions.’

A new head of estate, Alexander Davies-Terry, took over eight months ago and he said he’s trying to strike a balance between maintaining tradition, while also encouraging new business owners in order for them to ‘thrive’. ‘It’s an estate village, we’re not unique in being an estate village. You can find villages that have all blue doors – an estate I used to work on had all marine doors.

For those looking to live the ultimate peaceful village life, such as grandfather Nick Kenworthy, it is the perfect spot.
