The Soweto derby is a match that is known about even in Europe – Dolly
Dolly, who is in his debut season at the club, is on the verge of getting his first taste of derby action. The 28-year-old spent a few seasons in Europe with Montpellier in the French Ligue 1 from 2017 until his transfer to Chiefs in July.
Dolly isn’t the only player in line to experience the derby for the first time. His team-mates, including Thabani Dube, Cole Alexander and Phathutshedzo Nange, could also debut in the epic fixture on Saturday. Sfiso Hlanti was in line to mark his first appearance, but he suffered an Achilles tendon injury in training this week.However, it’s not only the players, as Bucs co-coach Mandla Ncikazi will also be coaching in his first Soweto derby.
The derby build-up had a bit of an anti-climax when it was announced that fans would not be allowed at the stadium, as had been expected.
