The Polestar O2 Concept convertible is headed to production.
is yet another stunner from the Swedish brand. It's an open-top 2+2 grand tourer that doesn't look like anything else out there. Convertibles and GT cars aren't too popular these days, yet Polestar is taking a risk and putting the O2 in production. The company announced Tuesday that the hard-top convertible will enter production in 2026 as the Polestar 6.
Like the upcoming Polestar 5—previewed by the Precept concept—the 6 will ride on a Lotus-esque bonded aluminum spaceframe. It will also share that car's 800-volt architecture and dual-motor drivetrain, which puts out 884 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Polestar is aiming for a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a 155-mph top speed.
By most standards, that 0-60 time is brutal, yet in the world of high-performance EVs, everyone seems to be racing to break the two-second barrier."We are about more than just straight-line sprints," Polestar design head Maximilian Missoni toldat the May premiere of the O2."It's when you turn the steering wheel that the true fun begins."
The Polestar 5 and 6 are largely being developed by a team in the U.K."The U.K. is a place that definitely has incredible expertise, talent, and of course, history in great car engineering," Polestar head Thomas Ingenlath
