Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen , so far at least, has satisfied all involved.has appears to have satisfied the UK government that proposed it, the European Union, the Eurosceptic ERG group of Conservative backbenchers, while opposition parties have indicated they’d vote it through Parliament. The final frontier will be the approval of Northern Ireland’s largest unionist party, the DUP,and MPs if the framework was unworkable from the outset.
This is the clear leader in the clubhouse for Sunak’s greatest success as Prime Minister so far, and at the end of his tenure will perhaps be seen as the greatest success of his premiership full stop. , but there appears to be some pollster divergence on the size of that lead, and therefore how big a task Sunak has to close the gap.
This disparity between how “sticky” 2019 Conservative voters are – how undecided they are – is the difference at the moment between a 15 point Labour lead in Savanta’s latest poll, which would result in a healthy Labour majority, and the larger 25 point Labour leads in other polls that could result in Conservative MPs being able to show up to the House of Commons in a single-decker bus.
