After starting interviews for their vacant head coaching position a couple of days ago, the Ottawa Redblacks hope to have the new guy in place in less than two…
Asked if the higher-ups at Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group would have input on who gets hired, Burke said, “It’s 100 per cent my decision as the general manager.”
The Redblacks went 6-22 over two seasons under head coach/offensive co-ordinator Paul LaPolice, who was hired before the cancelled 2020 CFL season. LaPolice was fired after a 3-11 start to this past season. Under LaPolice, the Redblacks went 3-11 in the 14-game 2021 season. “We’re very prepared for this process as an organization,” said Burke. “ Jeremy Snyder, Brendan Taman and myself have put together a thorough process we feel will bring us a candidate … so it’s not nerve wracking. When you’re prepared, it’s exciting. When we get the opportunity to make a selection we feel will put the organization in a different direction, we’re excited. And we’re excited to meet with great football minds to hear their thoughts.
