Thoughts on this news? TechNave Chrome ChromeOS

According to Google, the company is close to separating the Chrome browser from the Chrome OS. If true, this is great for internet users in general. Dubbed “Project Lacros”, Google is looking to ditch the integrated Chrome browser in favour of a standalone Linux-based Chrome browser.

According to Chrome Unboxed, the leaker spotted several code changes in the system. These new codes suggest you won’t have to enable the Lacros browser manually in Chrome OS 116. Plus, the Lacros browser can no longer be accessed by devices running Chrome OS 116 beta. Previously, Chrome OS let you run the regular Chrome and Lacros browsers on one device. Now, there is an enabled flag on the Chrome OS 116 beta to make Lacros the default browser for the device. As a result, there is only one browser on the computer.

In addition, it is great for internet users because it allows faster browser updates. Currently, browser updates require a full system update. A Chrome browser that is independent of the OS will have a better update/download speed.
