The estate is not involved in the film, which is based off a fictionalized version of Monroe’s life, but they still gave a statement toabout their thoughts on de Armas’ casting. “Marilyn Monroe is a singular Hollywood and pop culture icon that transcends generations and history,” said Marc Rosen, president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group , which owns the estate. “Any actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill.
Will this quiet the accent comments? Likely not, but hopefully it will at least hold them over until the next trailer comes out.
