Kevin DeLange and his team at Dry Dock Brewing Co. in Aurora had long thought about making hard seltzer, but by the time they released its original line called Mysters seltzers in 2020, it felt too late. The category had already become “an unstoppable force,” said Nielsen – withduring the 52 weeks ending June 13, 2020, the data company reported – and store shelves were brimming with both macro and craft options.

In March, Dry Dock debuted three ready-to-drink beverages called Docktails including a paloma, a strawberry-basil daiquiri and a cucumber margarita in hopes of addressing the aforementioned trends in beer sales and increased competition from other breweries that pivoted to and relied on package sales throughout the pandemic.
