A new video for TheLastOfUs episode 2 offers a detailed breakdown of how it compares to the hit video game, including pulling dialogue directly from the title.
Spoilers for The Last of Us episode 2 below!Following the release of The Last of Us episode 2, a new comparison video shows just how faithful the adaptation is with dialogue pulled directly from the original video game. The new zombie horror HBO series is based on the critically acclaimed PlayStation 3 video game of the same name.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY IGN recently shared a new video comparing scenes from HBO's The Last of Us episode 2 with moments from similar areas within the PlayStation 5 remake of the original video game. Check out the comparison video below: IGN's video takes various moments from The Last of Us episode 2 and edits them to corresponding scenes from the original video game to highlight just how faithful HBO's adaptation is to the source material. One moment of respite after Joel, Ellie, and Tess escape a museum full of Clickers features a near exact dialogue-accurate recreation of the original video game's cutscene.
Episode 1 and 2 already featured one of the biggest revisions for the show. In the original game, the Cordyceps fungi inexplicably took over the world with little warning, resulting in zombified humans infecting others through bites and spores after they die. However, The Last of Us HBO series removed spores as a primary avenue of infection and included tendrils that emanate from the mouths of hosts.
Along with a change to the nature of the infection, several characters were revised for the show. Original Joel voice actor and performance artist, Troy Baker, has teased episode 3's major change to Bill and Frank's characters and story. Melanie Lynskey and Graham Greene were also cast as new characters that were written specifically for the show.
