Two of the constituencies are considered safe Labour seats
Four candidates have been selected to stand for Labour in Greater Manchester just weeks before the general election . Two will be contesting constituencies currently held by the party where the outgoing MPs were last elected with majorities of more than 3,000.
The London-born son of Mancunians was a policy advisor to Jeremy Corbyn when he was Labour's leader, but left after concerns over the party's handling of anti-Semitism. He previously stood at the local elections in Bury and lived in Ramsbottom at the time. Mr Wheeler, who grew up in the area, now works for the Starmer-supporting USDAW trade union which is based in Salford Quays. He was selected to stand in the Worsley and Eccles seat, which Labour won under old boundaries by 3,219 votes, on Thursday .
