Lady Colyton Was Addams Family Creator Charles Addams' Second Wife With her eccentric name, Lady Barbara Colyton was the perfect match for Charles Addams, and the two were wed in 1954. Colyton was born Estelle Barb, but Colyton would pick up her royal name from her marriage to the first Lord Colyton long after she had divorced from Addams. Her marriage to Addams was noted for its tumultuous nature, with the couple constantly butting heads over money and the legacy of Addams' creations.
In a way, Lady Colyton would always stick with Charles Addams because, in the divorce settlement, she was able to secure the rights to The Addams Family cartoons . Addams passed away in 1988 at the age of 76, and he didn't live to see the massive film franchise that his works would grow into with the release of the 1991 film The Addams Family starring Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston.
Following his messy divorce with Colyton in 1956, Addams remained a bachelor for many years before finally meeting Marilyn Matthew "Tee" Miller whom he would marry in 1981. Matching Addams' twisted sense of humor, the pair married in a pet cemetery and exchanged vows while dressed as Morticia and Gomez .
