The Fry Magazine’s 50 best chippies and takeaways have been revealed
A number of fish and chip shops in Greater Manchester have been named in the 2024 list of best in the UK. Fry Magazine's 50 Best Fish and Chip Takeaways and 10 Best Fish & Chips Restaurants have been announced.
Billed a 'traditional English chippy', the Bury takeaway, on Clifton Road, is noted for its two-storey mural of Mark E. Smith of The Fall on the side of its building. Bit it is perhaps best known for frying in beef dripping and uses only the 'freshest' and 'finest' local produce. "We make no claims about being one of the best, we just work hard on our quality and consistency, then we’ll let you decide whether we’re any good or not."
Meanwhile, The Fish At Goose Green in Wigan also made the cut. The chippy on Clapgate Lane was described by one diner as the "best fish and chips in living memory" in a recent Tripadvisor review.
