And at the end … what? Is Zaidi optimistic? Pessimistic? The Harper pursuit was viewed as half pie-in-the-sky the entire time. Might it be different with Judge, who reportedly will make an appearance at these meetings in San Diego on Tuesday? “I mean, I feel good about what we’ve done process-wise,” Zaidi said. “Obviously, some of it is beyond our control. I just don’t want to characterize it beyond that. Again, it’s been a lot of people in the organization who have put in a lot of work. I think we’ve put ourselves in a good position. But ultimately, free agency is about players getting to make decisions.”Judge remains Plan A. He has to be.
