IN FULL: The strike dates affecting Scotland this month
Strikes by workers across the country in disputes over pay, pensions, jobs and conditions are expected to escalate in the weeks up to Christmas and into January.December 9, 11, 14, 15, 23 and 24
The union members are currently voting on a pay offer – which closes on Monday, December 12 – but even if a deal is reached and strikes are called off, it is thought that disruption will continue on the following days. Civil servants in the Public and Commercial Services union will start a month-long strike, with workers in different agencies and departments walking out on different days.
The workers will take action over pay and staffing levels, after accusing the UK Government of ignoring calls for a proper pay rise.Unions say they will respond to life-threatening incidents during the strike.Workers involved in operating and maintaining roads in England are due to walk out from December 16 to January 7. While roads in Scotland are not directly affected, those travelling across the Border during the festive period should make note of the dates.
