Now is the perfect time to revisit the franchise.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The original three Expendables movies have found a new streaming home as the release of The Expendables 4 approaches. Released in 2010, the first movie in the franchise brought together a host of iconic action heroes, including Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, for a bloody, entertaining romp.
Now, as The Expendables 4's release date looms, ComicBook.com reports that the first three movies in the franchise have now found a new streaming home on Peacock. While each of the installments remain available on other services, Peacock will seemingly be the only one with all three. How The Expendables 4 Compares To Its Predecessors The Expendables 3, which was released in 2014, proved to be a relatively disappointing entry in the franchise both critically and commercially. One major issue with the film was the fact it was rated PG-13 in an attempt to attract younger audiences, a move that only served to alienate the franchise's core demographic.
With the R-rated action set to make a return, a number of original cast members are too. Stallone and Statham are both back, in addition to franchise veterans like Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. On top of these returning actors, The Expendables 4's cast also includes more newcomers than ever before, including Megan Fox, Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Andy Garcia, 50 Cent, Levy Tran, and Jacob Scipio.
The upcoming sequel is also expected to serve as Stallone's final time playing Barney Ross, with the new film giving him an opportunity to pass the torch to Statham's Lee Christmas. The Expendables 4, then, is shaping up to be very familiar and yet also quite different from the previous movies. It remains to be seen how the film will ultimately compare to past Expendables entries, but hopefully it can recapture the magic while pushing the franchise in an exciting new direction.
