The seventh installment in the long-running action franchise sees Tom Cruise return as superspy Ethan Hunt for another stunt-filled adventure.
According to the director, the credits help to establish the Entity's hold over the information that is revealed to the audience, with the sequence featuring shots that aren't actually in the movie. Check out McQuarrie's full comment below: “And that’s my tribute to all of you out there who are always saying, ‘Don’t put spoilers in the [opening credits]!’ First of all, it’s a trope of Mission: Impossible, it’s what they’ve been doing since the series. So, okay, I won’t give you spoilers, I’ll just give you shots that aren’t in the movie. The Entity lied to you.
