The desirable seaside town with picturesque islands and some of the best ice cream in Scotland 🍦 Just half an hour east of Edinburgh, this pretty harbour town has a Blue Flag beach, access to a thriving seabird colony and culinary calibre 🏖️

Finding your bearings is simple: looking out across the Firth of Forth, the Blue Flag West Bay is to the left and East Bay to the right of the harbour. Berwick Law, the imposing hill behind the town, will keep you straight. It’s definitely a town to tackle by foot.

The train from Edinburgh takes about 33 minutes and arrives in the heart of the town. Buses to Edinburgh and the surrounding villages and towns all stop in Church Road. A beach wheelchair service operates from the harbour.the Marine . With its seafront position, 15 minutes’ walk from the station, the Victorian hotel has been given new life and style since it changed ownership recently. Impeccable service, elegant but quirky décor, spa, swim and gym facilities and those sea views mean it is back at the top of its game.
