Opinion: The Del Mar bluffs are crumbling. Here's what's being done to move train service. [Opinion]
both identify increased passenger and freight rail service and reduced rail travel times as critical components of providing a competitive alternative to Interstate 5 and meeting the state’s greenhouse gas reduction goals. Currently, more than 60 trains use the line daily. State, corridor and regional plans will dramatically increase train frequencies by 2035. These strategies require a reliable underlying infrastructure.
Given the unprecedented surplus and the urgent need for climate action, now is the time to make infrastructure investments.
