Instead of popping round - which may increase anxiety if they are worried about catching the virus - pick up the phone to text or call them. Ask if they need any shopping or supplies and drop them outside if they don't want to answer the door. At a time when isolation is encouraged, communicating and fostering a sense of community is more important than ever. If someone is feeling lonely then they might just like to chat.
With all the panicked stockpiling taking place, foodbanks are struggling more than ever with their reserves . Next time you're shopping at the supermarket, consider purchasing some additional products for your local foodbank; and it's not just food produce they want - they need essentials like toilet paper and hand soap, too.
