The City of Cape Town officials visited its new R132 million Macassar housing project on Monday, 12 September 2022, which is expected to accommodate 2 469 beneficiaries and it’s making steady progress.Construction at the R132 million housing project is taking place in stages. Phase 1 comprised the civil works for 605 erven.

In April 2021, it was completed and construction of the houses for Phase 1 is expected to start in March 2023. According to the City, if everything goes as planned then the civil works for Phase 2 is to be completed in October 2022 and the civil works for Phase 3 is to be completed in June 2023. Once the project is completed, it will be close to major transport routes and community facilities, this reinterates the City’s determination to deliver opportunities with action on well-located suitable pieces of land.The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, who visited the site said: “Construction of houses is earmarked to start in March next year. I am so pleased to see the good progress which has been made on site.
