The Bride Of Frankenstein Is Long Overdue For A Showcase Frankenstein’s monster has been revived again and again over movie history, sometimes to memorable effect but more often in disappointing fashion, while the Bride has frustratingly remained largely sidelined. But that all could soon change, as Netflix is currently developing a long-awaited Bride of Frankenstein remake with Maggie Gyllenhaal set to direct.
Netflix’s forthcoming swing at bringing back the Bride comes after years of efforts by others to revive the classic character. Notably, Angelina Jolie was at one point tapped to play the Bride when the character was set to return as part of the infamous Dark Universe, but the collapse of the Dark Universe plan sadly left the Bride’s big-screen future up in the air.
