It sounds a little gimmicky, but this is not like the braiding tools of the early 2000s, because it actually works.
With the wand I can do my whole head in about 10 minutes, which is a godsend for someone who's constantly running late. I start by dividing my hair into four to six sections, depending on how polished I want the look to be. Four gives me more of a loose wave, while six creates a classic Victoria's Secret bombshell curl . I generally like a messier look, so I start with fewer, larger sections.
Then I curl each section, holding the iron vertical and clamping my hair about two inches from the bottom for a less "done" look.
