The best and worst GP surgeries in Greater Manchester area, according to patients
Every year the NHS surveys patients across the country about the care they receive from their GP surgery.
Greater Manchester GP surgeries ranked very slightly higher than the national average, with 72% of patients giving their GP surgery an overall score of “good”. Nationally, the average was 71%. At Greater Manchester’s lowest scoring surgery, Werneth Medical Practice, for instance, the figures are based on 82 responses, which represents 9% of the surveys sent out. Patients are getting increasingly unhappy with their GP surgeries, the survey reveals.
"We have recently moved to state of the art premises, doubled the number and types of appointments and introduced a new cloud-based telephony system amongst other innovations. Although any adverse feedback is disappointing, we believe the majority of patients who use the survey are happy with it and we will continue to strive to improve it.
"As one of the smallest practices in Bury, we’ve been on a mission since March 2023 to make significant improvements for our patients," they added. "Thanks to feedback in our own practice surveys, patients can now book appointments through the NHS App and our online system, Patient Access. More than 80 per cent of our GP appointments are face-to-face.
