While there are many ways of honouring someone, tattooing someone else on your body is perhaps one of the more dramatic or passionate ways of doing it.
It is thought that hundreds of people flocked to tattooists in Argentina in order to ink a tribute to the Albiceleste captain, as many are now convinced that he has cemented his name as the greatest footballer in the history of the sport.One of the more outrageous scenerarios is a Colombian influencer called Mike Jambs, who decided to ink Messi's name across his forehead.
"I regret having done the tattoo because instead of bringing me positive things, it's led to lots of negative things, both personally and for my family," he said according to the"'I didn't think I'd be saying this so soon and I felt very proud of what I'd done in the first few days, but I now wish I hadn't done it.
