The next step in LIV Golf\u0027s bid to get world ranking points is apparently up to Greg Norman and his colleagues.
LIV Golf frontman Norman and his tour’s supporters have frequently argued that the golf establishment is determined to thwart their efforts to legitimize LIV’s product from a competitive standpoint by withholding world ranking points and limiting their players’ avenues to play in golf’s biggest events. Waugh argues that’s not the case.
“I struggle and I have since the beginning, even before the beginning, with understanding how it’s a sustainable business model,” Waugh said. “When asked, I tend to try to say what I believe.” “That’s a total mischaracterization,” Waugh said. “It’s a natural process. There is no magic to 12 months. It’s just sort of most of these — all of these, I think, certainly since I’ve been around — have taken more time than I think was assumed early on. That’s where it is. “What I’ve said and what I’ll say now is there has been healthy back and forth,” he said. “It has not been acrimonious.”
