Emmy nominee Richard Gere is the latest big name to join the Showtime series The Agency, following the announcements of Fassbender and Wright.
Gere is set to play Bosko, a London Station Chief that’s described as having a storied past after serving as an 8-year undercover agent. Gere, known for films like Pretty Woman and American Gigolohas had a few television roles in the place, including playing the main role of Max Finch in the British thriller MotherFatherSon. However, The Agency marks a major television role for Gere and the actor is said to have decided on it after fielding a number of high-profile TV offers.
The Agency is described as a fresh take on the critically acclaimed hit French drama Le Bureau des Légendes . The original centered on the daily life and missions of agents within France’s principal external security service. It focuses on the Bureau of Legends in particular, as they are responsible for training and handling deep-cover agents on long-term missions in areas with French interests.
Living under false identities for years, these agents’ missions are to identify and recruit good intelligence sources. Le Bureau des Légendes was created by Eric Rochant and is a CANAL+ Creation Originale series produced by TOP – The Originals Productions and Federation Studios. will direct and executive produce the show and Tony Award-winning writer Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth will executive produce and write all ten episodes.
The adaptation is ommissioned by Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and produced in association with 101 Studios. It’s is executive produced by Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios; David C.
