The order books are reopening, with a sucker punch.
The base F-150 Lightning Pro's MSRP has gone up by $7,000, the XLT is up $6,500, the XLT High and High Extended Range are up $7,000, the Lariat costs $7,400 more, the Lariat extended range is a whopping $8,900 more, and the Platinum extended range is $4,200 more now.
As small consolation for the price increases, Ford has also improved the range of standard-sized battery models by 10 miles, which are now rated up to an estimated 240 miles per charge. Additionally, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, which can take over the car's throttle and steering inputs to assist with hitching a trailer, is now available under the Tow Technology Package option or standard on some Lariat and Platinum trims.
This new pricing structure isn't solely a bummer because of the extra dollar signs—it makes the F-150 Lightning far less competitive against traditional gas pickup competition, and we're curious to see if the truck's sales lose some steam this time around as a result. Then again, the Lightning is still one of the most capable pickups on the road, so maybe Ford can ask whatever it wants for it.
