There are 19 former Astros — or at least former Astros farmhands — still alive on teams other than the Astros.
The biggest names, of course, are Toronto's George Springer and New York's Gerrit Cole, who both left Houston for big-time free agent contracts. Cleveland Guardians' Myles Straw reacts after flying out in the fifth inning of a wild card baseball playoff game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, in Cleveland. The former Astros fan favorite, who signed a five-year, $25 million extension with Cleveland before the season, has struggled in his first full season with the Guardians. The Astros traded Straw to Cleveland last season for reliever Phil Maton, and the center fielder hit .285 after the trade.
