Marumo Gallants have confirmed that they are keen on keeping Thabo Mnyamane, but have also revealed that the player is in a tough situation that he is worried about.
Mnyamane's two-year deal with the Nedbank Cup finalists is due to expire today and the club's media liaison and communications manager Rufus Matsena has confirmed to the Siya crew that they want to negotiate a deal with the player, with the view of keeping him beyond the end of his contract.According to the club, Mnyamane has undergone an operation that could keep him out for a few months.
"We are looking into negotiating with him. With Thabo Mnyamane, the idea is to try to engage him and see if we can come to an agreement of some sort. I'd say it's entirely up to him. The moment he underwent a knee operation, so he is a bit worried about his recovery, that maybe he might recover after some time and you might find that the season has already started and all that because he was talking about a minimum of six months," Matsena said.
The former SuperSport United and University of Pretoria attacker made 23 appearances for Gallants during the 2021/22 campaign and they believe he still has something to offer going forward. As things stand, a new deal has not been agreed upon, but a decision is expected to be made soon.
