Toronto FC coach Bob Bradley admitted on Thursday that some of his players didn’t want anything to do with the clown show put on Vancouver Whitecaps coach…
Because of Sartini’s antics, Bradley said, some players didn’t want to shake hands post-game.
“Look, when the game ended, immediately as a coaching staff we walked and congratulated their coaches,” said Bradley, following a TFC regeneration session at the BMO Training Ground on Thursday. “And before went to any of our players or whatever, Vanni chose to celebrate in his own style. In the process … he’s waving his shirt at one point right in front of Oso. Oso just missed a penalty in a shoot-out.
“When I spoke to Vanni at that second stage, there was no yelling. I just said, ‘No. Right now, these guys don’t want you around. Come on. Leave.’ Pretty easy. At that point, he said, “Okay’, something like ‘I get it’ and then he left. The rest that he says a day later, no, that’s been rearranged.”Article content
Tuesday’s unpleasantness aside, TFC now has to quickly refocus on Saturday’s match against the Revolution in New England – a second straight game on the dreaded artificial turf.
“These guys have been incredible,” added Bradley. “To play that number of minutes you come over and now you have a couple of training sessions with a new team and immediately you’re on the field playing these kinds of minutes, that’s a credit to those players.”
